After successfully negotiating several local employers to withdraw their proposals for a wage freeze, negotiations began with Moira Shire Council and Banyule City Council. Among the councils and shires that have agreed to start EBA negotiations with the ANMF are Banyule City Council, Moria Shire, Mornington Shire Council and the City of Greater Geelong. The ANMF and other unions are considering a proposal from Greater Shepparton City Council to roll up the deal. It is a euphemism of how we felt last Friday when the Council`s industry representatives called to say that they did not intend to abide by this agreement in principle. The Council has yet to present a revised offer, but lay the groundwork for a difficult period and the loss of jobs and services if staff insist that the wage increase remains as agreed. Wyndham City Council will pay the 2.1 percent increase in July 2020 as provided for in the current corporate agreement. Wyndham City Council, which employs 40.3 EFT nurses, initially sought to freeze wages, but under pressure from unions, the council agreed to withdraw the proposal and will pay the 2.1 percent increase in July 2020, as provided for in the current company agreement. After major negotiations, two failed ABE votes and a Fair Work Commission bargaining dispute against the Hobsons Bay City Council, anMF and other unions proposed an increase of at least $28 a week for a short-term company deal. The ANMF (Vic Branch) continues to represent maternal and pediatric nurses and vaccine nurses in negotiations with a number of local government councils that are trying to freeze wages, delay negotiations on company agreements or overturn agreements, citing the effects of COVID-19. The ANMF and other unions agreed to postpone company negotiations with the Ararat Rural Council for 12 months, but Ararat employees received 1.5% in the first pay period after July 1. The Council has two social clubs for employees, to which all employees must join, one for internal staff and the other for external staff. The indoor social club organizes a series of events throughout the year, including a mid-year and an end-of-year event for all employees, and the outdoor social club prepares and runs a barbecue at the end of the year for all employees to celebrate the Christmas period.
